The Indo-Pacific is a multi-polar region, a home to the most dynamic economies of the world, the most populous nations of the world and important sea lines of communication. The region accounts for the three largest economies of the world-China, Japan and the United States, and some of the fastest growing economies of the world-India, Indonesia and Vietnam are also located in this region. Forty-two per cent of global trade and sixty per cent of global maritime trade flows through its waters.
