Ambassador Pankaj Saran is the Convenor of NatStrat, a Delhi-based independent Center for Research on Strategic and Security Issues, and a commentator and consultant on security and strategic issues. He is a former diplomat with four decades of experience in foreign, strategic, and national security affairs. Ambassador Saran has served in different capacities within the Prime Minister?s Office, the NSCS, the MEA, and Indian Missions abroad. He has served as Ambassador of India to Russia, High Commissioner to Bangladesh, and Head of the Northern Division in the Ministry of External Affairs dealing with Nepal and Bhutan. From 2018 to 2021, Ambassador Saran served as the Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Affairs, dealing with regional and global strategy formulation, maritime security, Arctic affairs, and India?s neighbourhood. He has written for The Times of India, Hindustan Times, and The Economic Times, among other newspapers and journals.
